An unfolded version as a 3rd image would be nice (2nd is the back and unfortunately no more space for the plate itself).

No, the third image is really for the label. To identify the item. You can place images of cut-out covers with your own images.

Yup. They are three different releases. The first is a German pressing, the second a French one and the third a Dutch one. The release numbers of the first 2 are the same. (Must have to do with Odeon even though both are Apple)

As for Beatles experts: Dick knows a lot about it and you can also contact me with questions about Beatles releases. In the beginning we also had Sgt Pepper, but apparently that has stopped. He was administrator of the Beatles sub-area.

Distinguishing Beatles pressings remains very difficult. EMI very often pressed the year of the first release on the label. So on a 1976 re-press of Please, please me it says P 1963. English pressings can still be recognized by variations in the label, but Dutch pressings almost always have the same label. Covers sometimes help to distinguish. The weight of the vinyl can also help (old pressings from the 1960s are heavier than re-presses from the 1970s and 1980s. Release numbers can also help. In 1969, EMI switched from the PCS and PMC numbers to the country system.

Example: Rubber Soul

First Dutch editions 1965; PMC 1267 mono and PCS 3075 stereo
Late 1970s Reprints: 5C 062 -04115 stereo
1980s reprints: 1A 062-04115 stereo

If you have any questions about Beatles releases, you can always contact Dick and me. We also have quite a few reference books.

point is also we don't have a real classical music manager.

Yes, Collectief-63 is the manager of the classic sub-area. He has hardly done anything so far, because the options for classic were limited. I will email him whether he can move forward now.

I think I understand the concept of double gatefold from your example. It's just a pity that the importer has only placed 1 image and that is not really clear. An unfolded version as a 3rd image would be nice (2nd is the back and unfortunately no more space for the plate itself).

I also do not understand that those other collectors are satisfied that there is only 1 image. If I have a plate and there is only 1 image, then I add my photos to CW. If I don't have it yet, I'll wait until I have the photos myself, otherwise it won't be added to my collection.

And also nice that the term gatefold also applies to CDs. This leaves a lot of terms from the Vinyl era!

Furthermore, it does indeed seem as if you are opening a gate in your example.

I was just about to add a Beatle record to my collection (it was already there, so just add it, take pictures to come) and then had 2 comments:

1) CW 179893 , CW 238501 and CW 238513 they are not all the same album ? I'm not a Beatle connoisseur, but at first glance I don't see any difference between those three and the release number is the same everywhere. Maybe a real Beatle connoisseur can explain the difference to me.

2) At first I thought, I am asking this question to the Beatles administrator, but to my great surprise there was none. Aren't there any big Beatle collectors / fans? All general administrators, but not of this category and therefore difficult to ask questions about it.

I hope CataWiki converts the numbers into references to the relevant items, otherwise I have to look them up and post them anyway.

So far it is still unclear how to qualify a record. Click on the Conditions link and you will start off nicely in Dutch and immediately switch to English at the next more common condition.

Furthermore, the condition of the record is often very different from the condition of the cover or inner cover. And does it matter for the condition whether the extra sheets are included or not? All this cannot be read from the explanation, it is also more from the album itself.

Wikipedia defines a double cover as gatefold:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gatefold

A double gatefold is also possible, as with 779291 .

It is a pity that such a subject has been snowed under somewhere in all the hustle and bustle. Until now you can not even choose what type of packaging is. You also cannot choose from which side you take the plate (Top, right, bottom, left or combinations).

I have never heard of a Gatefold myself, but through this forum I learn something every time. Do you have any examples of that?

Just entered a Opera (why isn't that under 'Genres'?) and I just want to signal that: - Conductor
- Orchestra
- Chorus
- Singers are all listed under 'Artist'. That is not a problem for me, but I can imagine that real classic fanatics will have problems with that.

If all goes well, this should also be realized is simply on the wish list of the tracks proposal.

and genre can certainly be expanded with opera operetta chamber music and what else exists under the heading of Classical.

point is also we don't have a real classical music manager.

assume that now the track story will slowly but surely get on track, it will register soon.

@ This-Raft: 2413173 isn't that a double LP, so 2LP instead of 1? And would you also like to add an image of the relevant plates (the labels)?

That is stated in the details: It is a 12 "33rpm LP and a 12" 45rpm EP. there is no separate field for this, so opted for 2x 12 "for input.

Fig. of label will follow in due course.

Regards, Jan

The same money actually also applies to Morits. A beautiful Zappa album, but would you also manage to photograph the back cover and the plate?

I also think that a conductor actually belongs to the specials, as long as he (are there also female conductors?) Does not yet have his own field. It is quite an achievement what such a conductor plays for each other, but that doesn't make him an artist. For me, those are more the performers (the ones who make music)

Yes, that can only be done differently once you can also assign 'roles' to people ...

In classical music one has e.g. with symphonies per 'Symphony' various 'Movements'. With the current 'Tracks' I don't immediately see how to organize this.

I have tried to get them in this . That is a CD with 2 symphonies. The trick I used to name the first A and the second B. That is of course not entirely correct, but how else to solve it?

2413695 is by the way simply entered as an example, may be rejected.

It is also possible zo , that might be more correct (according to the fill-in instructions), but then you will get very long track names.

item 2413173 does not come in the list of the correct artist / band (Wire) but takes the name of the item I entered before .. (Yellowman)

this happened before, but you could delete the pre-filled field and enter the correct name. that possibility has disappeared.

@Kozy

take a look at 930231 , things are not going well there either, apart from the title of the side and therefore the reason for a track, it is also not good with the distribution of the tracks of side 2. Every number is a new side .. .

When copying album information (CD is included, LP not yet) you can change and add to the track information. The extra tracks on the CD cannot be deleted. (see 2413147 ) (Maybe the selection can be expanded with "extra track" and "hidden track"?)

When adjusting fields 'OEPS' it is important to pay attention: the tracks will then come in alphabetical order ...

I think there are now 100,000 albums in the list! congratulations Catawiki and collectors!

Please, but also the names of the band members with the tracks because they perform a guest appearance every now and then.

nice idea but you will have to fill in the band members from Chicago (Transit Authority) will be nice lists, I think we have to solve this differently, I can imagine that you really mention an artist guest appearance.

but All You need is love singel who were all allowed to show up

A day in a life, also something like Live Aid. and there are a few more

2nd approach:
At the album level you determine the artist. Call me the main artist. With the tracks you only record if there are deviations, for example a guest appearance. The same goes for the genre. So you record the genre at album level, and you can add additional genres at track level. In the case of a compilation album, there is no main artist, only track level artists.

Please, but with the tracks also the names of the band members because they occasionally perform a guest appearance.

When I read the discussion like this, most people have approach 2 in mind, while we have started with approach 1. Is that correct?

I have not so much in the back of my mind as that I found the situation unclear and would like clarity.

I can live very well with one compulsory track, you know. What I prefer is that for all similar sections (books, DVD, vinyl, comics ... actually the items that (can) have parts in themselves that must be described, respectively: stories, tracks, tracks, stories ) the import system is also the same.

I also think this is the best for development and maintenance. It now happens all too often that improvements that are made as a result of complaints from users are not simultaneously made in similar sections, so that complaints must first be made from those similar sections about the same phenomenon, etc. that way more loose sand.

In any case, you are overlooking Rene's comment on October 18 in the admin forum:

It is not the intention to make the tracks mandatory if they can be entered separately. Now they are also not mandatory.
