I didn't mean that literally what I meant when you select o lp then
You should definitely view 1000 items
With Rene's example, it is still manageable <40 pieces

Can you indicate what is no longer working, then maybe we can do something about it?

And to be honest, I often find it difficult to really name a genre

FransS , Still, I can imagine it's useful to filter by in certain situations. Suppose you are looking for - just to name a few - country music at 78 rpm .

Precisely!
Rene Buying and ordering online works differently than rummaging through bins, right? If you are looking for a record in LD you can filter, but it will not yield results. Suppose you are looking for a record by Miles Davis, but you do not know that it is Miles Davis or, for example, Kind of Blue and you search for Jazz .... then you get 9463 items and then? Mmm okay. Then you can still search on CD (3385) or LP (4232)
Blues ditto: 4103 items. CD 1488 and LP 1356. Collectors looking for records in the catalog know they are looking for BB King ;-)

I have also argued for it before (with books). Even though that was years ago, when there were no programmers for it.

I use "genres" at record fairs to save time... Handy if there's a bunch of Blues or Sixties

FransS , But isn't that also time-saving if you want to buy something online? And also useful if you are looking for a certain record in the catalog and do not know all the characteristics, but do know some, such as that it is jazz. Then you can also filter on that, right?

if you like this you should listen to that too)

You should know what kind of nonsense you get when you searched on Zappa makes no sense. Just not a Heintje :-)))

I use "genres" at record fairs to save time... Handy if there's a bunch of Blues or Sixties ;-)

I always asked loudly if they had Zappa, otherwise you wouldn't have time to finish the fair, especially in Utreg

It's nice that we sometimes disagree ;-)

But why are genres useful for jazz and classical music enthusiasts? Is anyone searching the catalog for opera? Bebop? Dixieland, opera or operetta? etc.
For beginning music lovers, I think the chaos will only get bigger. Also what big sales sites and streaming platforms do (if you like this, you should listen to that too) works (for me) pretty bad. I would advise beginners to listen to as much unknown music as possible to develop their own taste from there.

I use "genres" at record fairs to save time... Handy if there's a bunch of Blues or Sixties ;-)

What I've struggled with since the beginning is the fact that you don't know which songs someone has written under which pseudonym. Everything is thrown together. Partly for this reason, I have argued in the past to do it the other way around: not the alias with the real name, but the real name with the alias. This also applies to the book section.

Yes I know, this Henry R. Cosby is not the simplest.
As far as I know he has written under 30 Pseudonyms, of which I myself don't think they are all Pseudonyms, I think there will be some where they have printed the name wrong on the plate.
I took the most common so Hank Cosby.
If another one is added, you can always add this one or others.
But at least everything looks good now, everything wasn't so easy with The Corporation and The Clan.

In this case I don't completely agree with you. The type/genre classification is especially useful for jazz and classical music lovers and I think also for the novice music lover, who still has to find his/her way in the musical chaos.

Maybe you shouldn't take it too seriously. Not everything can be determined on technical grounds. Many terms have emerged for marketing reasons.

I saw you modified The Corporation and The Clan, looks great.
Only I made a few mistakes.
Can you make Gordy Jr., Berry (The Corporation; The Clan) at the Producers of Berry Gordy (The Corporation; The Clan) (also listed under Composers and Lyricists).
Can you make at the Composers of Henry Crosby (The Clan), (first concerns three Items), Cosby, Henry R. (Hank Cosby; The Clan).
Can you make Cosby, Henry R. (Hank Cosby; The Clan) at the Producers of Henry Cosby (Includes 5 items first).
There are still 70 items with Henry Cosby in the Composers, but I still want to sort them out, you can leave them as they are first.

I think it would indeed be wise to discuss the whole genre thing once in a while. As far as I'm concerned, preferably in a personal management meeting, as we had in the past with René and Arco.

Personally, I find genres very complicated and superfluous. Every enthusiast has different criteria when determining the genre and I wonder who uses it to look up. Not me in any case. I search by artist - country - carrier (- sometimes even a label)
You can still name Rock & Roll and Blues on technical grounds. R&R: four-four time with afterbeat, often I, IV, V chord pattern and up-tempo. instruments are often piano and saxophone.
Blues: 12 bars, slow tempo, pentatonic scale. Also common I, IV, V pattern.
There are also a lot of deviations and variants for both.

I adjust and also fill in, but it strikes me that many importers hardly pay any attention to it and just enter something (which is then nicely filled in as standard and not corrected for all subsequent tracks).

I'm not that keen on that
Where then should the eel sound, the tearjerker, etc.
I understand the question but how far do you want to go
If I remember a little bit from my childhood it's not more than 10 artists who represented glamor rock it's just a period “3 years” when it was really (pop)ular
