good afternoon everyone!
when entering books containing stories from multiple authors, there is no option to assign a particular story to a particular author
an extra field for each story title (for the author) would solve this and in my opinion are very desirable...

That's an old wish. It should work the same way it does with Comics. But that takes a lot of programming time, I don't know if you can count on it in the short term.

Convert the "Book Type" field in the Books section to a manageable field (type = AreaLookup).

Please add the serial number field, is already an old request. You now have a series with a serial number, for example Meulenhoff SF series, which is numbered consecutively, but the Duin series has its own serial number within this. Now this number is put in detail or sometimes incorrectly in the serial number.

See also the request of Lyonesse at Chronicles of the underworld, nobody knows what to do with that serial number

Please add the serial number field, is already an old request.

In both comics and books, we deliberately chose to display 1 number at the time, namely the number within the series in which it was published and which is almost always stated on the cover or spine of the (comic) book.

I understand your wish, but in my opinion the advantage in the relatively few situations where this occurs, does not outweigh the confusion that 2 numbers can give to importers and people who view an item. Those 2 number fields would then be visible for all books and comics in the catalog, while it is only rarely relevant.

In the overview of publisher Aramith  the list for translators is missing.
To #9259185 I added the translator. And later changed the translator's name, maybe that's why the translator is missing from the overview?

In a topic at Comics it was asked if the 2 ISBN fields at Books could be merged.
My response:
I allow those 2 fields to be merged. However, the conditions must be clearly described for creating a required script for this.

I would like to hear from the administrators at Boeken.

It's a bit odd that there are 2 fields, although books around 2007 sometimes have 2 ISBNs (10 and 13 digits).

For creating a required script for this, however, the conditions must be clearly described.

I don't understand that. Requirements?

These are the conditions for the script to function properly when merging 2 fields. For example, if both are entered, which one must be copied. Perhaps there are other potential problems for merging those 2 fields.

OK, usually only 1 is entered. If 2 are entered, it is a matter of iene, meene, mutte. One is not more important than the other.

I don't know what Jilles thinks about this. I don't think he is available due to activities elsewhere. We may have to wait for it to return.

I could of course be wrong
But from 2007 ISBN and EAN code at Boeken are 1 and the same (the same 'code')?
Both based on the principle 'GTIN13'.
So: Books from before 1970 have no ISBN or EAN.
Books between 70 and 74  have an ISBN.
And from 1974 the ISBN is the same as the EAN.
So there are no '2' codes here.
And I think you can solve that like with 'Strips' with the "-" sign.

Jilles vertigo et al.
Can the rule for concatenating both ISBN fields become like this:
  • If ISBN-10 is empty, always take the value of ISBN-13
  • If ISBN-10 is entered and ISBN-13 is empty, then copy value from ISBN-10
  • If both ISBN-10 and ISBN-13 are entered, then copy the ISBN-13 value

So in fact ISBN-10 is only inherited if ISBN-13 is empty.

My preference would be:

  • If both ISBN-10 and ISBN-13 are entered, then copy the ISBN-10 value and copy the ISBN13 value (without hyphens) to the EAN field.

Edit: although I now realize that a book does not automatically have to have a barcode...
Is it possible to check how many books have such a double ISBN?

Is it possible to check for how many books such a double ISBN has been entered?
Not directly by me, but I know I've seen some (10) pass by. Mostly books from 2006

ISBN code
Those dashes only exist on LD.
On a book the 13 digits are concatenated.
Inside they are 'separated; in groups by a space.
So that the ISBN is easier to 'decompose'.
Scan equipment can never read eg 978-94-0161-685-0. Because that's 17 'signs'.
Well 9789401616850; because that's the 'translation' of the ISBN number/barcode and its 13 characters.

Can be tested with it (have everything). Only the check digit ....

In 2008, everything should have been completely over on ISBN13 by now, but I see that's a reprint, so they probably didn't bother to remove the ISBN10.
I have no idea where that extra barcode 50799 is good for. Also on parts 2 and 3 of the series, with part 4 it's another number.

buizer The ISBN does have dashes (or spaces), not just on LD. For example, see the link above from Leike-w, above the barcode.

Boekenmagazijn
ISBN
Yes of course an ISBN has dashes and spaces.
Vertical stripes that is.
I'm referring to the way of noting LastDodo in the Field 'Isbn'.
You do that with 'underscores'.
If I want to write an Isbn number manually, you do it like this 978 94 0161 685 0 or else 978-94-0161-685-0.
And at the back of a book you then have the 'vertical' bar code with the 13 digits below that, which is the 'translation' of those vertical bars. The distance/space between the lines and the thickness of the vertical lines determine the 'isbn number', right? --> 9789401616850 and the vertical lines above it.
And inside for readability 978 (books) / 94 (registration group, language group) / 0161 (publisher) / 685 (title) / 0 (check digit) .
And experienced. What do you do when the electricity goes out? And there are still 20 customers in the supermarket with a full cart? You can only write down the 13 digits and enter them manually afterwards. And that's without horizontal lines. Otherwise the code/isbn will not be recognized
