How nice that you managed to do this. I'm not a big collector, but every now and then I add a label. Very happy days for you and all other collectors!

Dear fellow beer label collectors,
I have now been the manager of this department of the collection platform for over 7 years.
You would almost say "how time flies..."
In those years I have seen the numbers of beer labels collected grow considerably.
When I look back on the past years, I arrive at the following figures:
End of 2016: 17,277 labels
End of 2017: 18,817 labels
End of 2018: 19,792 labels
End of 2019: 20,509 labels
End of 2020: 21,524 labels
End of 2021: 34,684 labels
End of 2022: 54,167 labels
End of 2023: 57,881 labels
In the years 2021 and 2022 there has been enormous growth thanks to collector Kanes.
This mainly concerned German and Czech beer labels. The number will also be German in 2023
and Czech labels increased sharply again. Collector Naquera has contributed to a significant expansion of French beer labels.
When I look at the “Big Five” in our catalog I see the following:

Germany 28,034 labels
The Netherlands 8,106 labels
Belgium 7,654 labels
Czech Republic 4,816 labels
France 2,486 labels
The beer label collection in this catalog started on March 4, 2009. On that day, collector “GROLSCH-ETICETTEN” introduced the first label: “Grolsch Pilsener”, brewed by NV Bierbrouwerij “De Klok” from Groenlo-Enschede (LastDodo number 2003567). .
In August 2013, there was a real manager for the beer label collection for the first time: RTBF-32209. He had a lot of catching up to do in approving imported labels between 2009 and 2013.
This year I was curious in which countries our collectors all live.
We currently have 84 beer label collectors.
43 collectors live in the Netherlands
20 collectors live in Belgium
4 collectors live in Germany
3 collectors live in France
2 collectors live in Portugal
There are 2 collectors living in the United Kingdom
There is 1 collector living in Ireland
1 collector lives in Mauritius
1 collector lives in Austria
1 collector lives in Spain
1 collector lives in the Czech Republic
One collector lives in Uruguay
In addition, there are 3 unknown countries of residence where the main language is Dutch and there is 1 unknown country of residence where the main language is English.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone for their contribution to the beer labels section. Not only with regard to input, but also for editing and/or supplementing data.
I wish you happy holidays and a great collecting year in 2024.
Ewald63

Tried adding a background page for MAK Brewery a few times. Each time after that I get to the main LD screen and the page has not been added.
Problems with background pages at the moment?

The catalog would be chaos without you.
I will look for more Spanish craft beers.
A happy year to all.

Nice habit / tradition of your Ewald, that annual review.
Gives a good overview of the development of the Beer Labels section.

Dear fellow beer label collectors,
In the past year, a huge number of beer labels have been added. In one year there has been an increase of 19,483 items so far.
When I then look at where this increase at a national level comes from, the following picture emerges:
- 14,223 German beer labels
- 2,683 Czech beer labels
- 750 Dutch beer labels
- 357 French beer labels
- 310 Belgian beer labels
- 57 Spanish beer labels
- 1.103 Other beer labels
This year the Beer Labels Handbook was introduced. Not only in Dutch, but also in German, English and French. This handbook can be consulted when a beer label is entered or changed.
This way everyone, regardless of the country of origin, can see how the beer labels should be imported. With this we hope to get more uniformity in the input of data.
Also new this year is the option to enter multiple beer types . If, for example, “Blonde abbey beer” is mentioned, this label will from now on fall under the heading Blonde beer and Abbey beer. The same applies to “Export Lager” which falls under the headings Export and Lager and for a Barrel Aged Quadrupel which therefore belongs to both “Vatgerijpt” and “Quadrupel”. And so over time many more combinations have been created by the beer brewers.
I would also like to thank everyone who has helped to supplement and/or improve the data in this collection section. As an administrator you do not always see what has been entered in the past. This often comes up casually. Then it is nice to have extra eyes and people who, if necessary, help.
It only remains for me to wish everyone happy holidays and a good 2023 .
Ewald63

Collectioneur Thank you for seeing the honours. Was indeed on vacation and picked up the thread again today.
The alias seems fine to me. The current name is " Texelse Bierbrouwerij, Oudeschild ". So this is rightly the first to be reported. I will, however, create a background page at the brewery.
user-1713548 Thanks for the tip.

AJFM PS: I didn't know before that the Texel Beer Brewery used to have a different name. Learned something again...

I don't want to whine, but the Alias should actually be "De Tesselse Bierbrouwerij, Oudeschild". That was the name of the company before the turn of the century.

thanks.
A small suggestion. Bierbr must be stated in full according to the manual, so beer brewery. That will also have to be adapted everywhere.

In the event that perhaps Ewald63 is on vacation, I have added the alias "Tesselse" to " Texelse Bierbr., Oudeschild ". Ewald can later decide for himself whether this is correct or whether it should be done differently.

It can be done with any indexed collection area, so also here . But only admins of the rubric can edit it, so you'll need to be at Ewald63 at this point.

Incidentally, in this case I would argue in favor of including Tesselse and Texelse as Alias of each other.

Can this perhaps be arranged via the management module via the 'Name variations' box?
No idea whether this is possible in the Beer Labels section for the Brewery sub-area.
This is already possible with sub-area 'Countries/territories' in the Stamps section. With those variations, a user can get everything on the screen via the top search box.
Slightly less useful than an alias, but less limited: you can add multiple name variations. Without taxing the Breweries list.

Just an idea.

AJFM I'll give you info on how the catalog is set up, but I have nothing to do with the "beers".
I do see that the breweries have 1x Tessel and 3x Texel. The exact rules must be provided by the administrator of this section, but most of the time it is grouped and the "inherit exact spelling" rarely applies.
It is also not the intention to fill the details of each item with the same info. That's actually where comments and properties of the item belong that don't fit in any other field (eg there are 2 versions with a very small difference).
If you know a lot of explanation, are a specialist in a certain domain or want to write some history, you first go to the page of the brewery and there you have a link "Add background info" at the top. This is actually an explanation that is valid for all items.
But as mentioned, an administrator has to answer this.

Hi Jummeke, thank you for the reply.
The alias can work, I see, for example, with books and comics. But I have the feeling that many different spellings have been introduced for beer labels (and coasters) and that you don't get a picture very quickly. And when I search for Tesselse I certainly do not end up at Texelse . And so I miss the labels on Tesselse that have been introduced under the 'new name' Texel beer brewery.
Perhaps there should be more information about name changes in the details. Because how do you know that Katjelam from Nijmegen was later called Nevel Artisan Ales . Anyway, I'll mention it there.

AJFM If all goes well, an administrator has created an alias and you can search for both.
Now items from both are in the catalog and that can't be the intention?
