Details
1st Class forgery with the ‘iridescent’ code MBIL/M22L and backing paper SBP2i represents stamps supposedly originating from the business sheet 50 x 1st (Bookmark Cat SB7(21)) issued at the end of February 2022. The forgeries are printed in lithography The perforations show the correct gauge and have real round holes (not the saw-tooth version) even if the teeth are slightly too narrow and pointed; the printed perforation line is well reproduced. The iridescent coding is good apart from the common error of text in straight lines across the Queen’s head. The barcodes can be distinguished from the real thing by their matt rather than very shiny aspect; the backing paper also seems shinier. The value has slightly bolder figures. The two dull phosphor bars appear to be formed by a dark matt overprint which gives a realistic bluish reaction under long wave UV light, but gives NO afterglow under short wave UV light. For the first time the stamps have also imitated vignetted bars.
