Although the cover and CD show the original release date of the 1981 vinyl LP, this CD release is from 1992. All compositions are by Steinman himself. This album was originally intended for Meat Loaf as a successor to "Bat Out of Hell", but problems with his vocal cords forced composer Steinman to take up the vocal microphone himself. He sings most of the songs himself, with the exception of "Lost Boys and Golden Girls," "Surf's Up," and "Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through, where 'backing vocalist' Rory Dodd (known as the high male voice in Bonnie Tyler's" Total Eclipse of the Heart ") perceives the lead vocals. Over the years Meat Loaf has also recorded almost all of the songs on this album. Only "Dance in My Pants" and the instrumental "The Storm" are missing from his repertoire. The vinyl LP is missing "The Storm" and "Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through", but these were included separately as an EP. According to Steinman, these songs are intended as the prologue and epilogue of this album respectively. So "The Storm" should be played first and "Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through" as the last track.
