Het Groene Kruis was a neutral national association for district nursing (crucifixion) in the Netherlands. The oldest local association of the Groene Kruis was the town of Driebruggen. This association was founded on November 3, 1900 in the then municipality of Lange Ruige Weide (Driebruggen) by the general practitioner Wilhelm Poolman (1866–1935). the establishment of an association that could be active in the care and nursing of the sick and improve the hygiene conditions in the different places of residence, regardless of the religious philosophy of the members. The Kamerikse GP Van Deinse proposed to give the association in Utrecht and South Holland the name "Het Groene Kruis", the color referring to the "house color" of the University's medical faculty. The association then expanded throughout the Netherlands. The Green Cross merged in 1978 with the Orange-Green Cross and the White-Yellow Cross.
