Details
in real only 26 Ghias were built between 1961 and 1963. metallic blue, red interior Opening doors, trunk and bonnet. Movable seatbacks. Dog figure on parcel shelf. Seats, suspension, driving mirror, chrome plated grille and bumpers, interior decal. When this model came out, it was considered by many (including Corgi themselves, who proudly printed a 9-point list on the box) to set new standards in detailing, and indeed that list is impressive, as one can read above. The model remained in production until 1969 and sold a total of 1.753.000 copies! Available in metallic blue, metallic gold and metallic green. The one major problem with this model (as with some other Corgi's of this 'golden age') is the suspension: it's part of the plastic/chrome plating cast used for the grille and bumpers, and it's very prone to break subjected to even light pressure. For that reason, there's a whole bunch of otherwise sound models out there, but with broken suspension, especially at the rear. If you plan on buying one, check it (or the photos supplied) carefully. The front wheels should just about be clear of the wheelarch and the rear axle should be well clear of the bodywork (if the rear suspension is broken, the axle sits just about level with the wheelarch)
