Original pen and ink/pencil/crayon editorial cartoon drawing on art card, 1951, published in the Christian Science Monitor, shows Uncle Sam with the flame representing the light of God and ‘thanksgiving to the giver of all good’ casting light on ‘world turmoil’. The religious observance of Thanksgiving in November each year is used here to suggest that the US and faith in God can together overcome world problems such as the Korean War, the Cold War and other confrontations. Stamped on verso: “Used Nov 19 1951". Signed lower right, card size 36 x 29 cm, image size: 29 x 25 cm. Caption in blue crayon in upper border, in overall very good condition.
