Details
The Nabataeans (Nabateans or Nabatheans) were an ancient Arab people who inhabited northern Arabia, Jordan, and at times part of southern regions of both Israel and Syria.
Their kingdoms had poorly defined boundaries in the surrounding desert, and
centered on loosely-controlled trading network, consisting of strings of oases they controlled.
The kingdom had about 11 different rulers, beginning in 169 BCE with Aretas I, and ending in 106 CE with Rabbel II Soter, after which Trajan conquered the Nabataean kingdom, and annexed it to the Roman Empire.
