Portrait bust to the left of Thomas Willeboirts Bosschaert (1613-1654). Willeboirts Bosschaert was born in Bergen op Zoom. He moved to Antwerp in 1628 and worked for eight years in Gerard Seghers' studio. In 1636 or 1637 the city registered him as a citizen of Antwerp and he obtained membership of the Guild of Saint Luke. His style was strongly influenced by Anthony van Dyck, both in his portraits and in his history paintings. Willeboirts Bosschaert had his own studio with at least nine famous pupils. He collaborated with other artists such as Daniël Seghers, Paul de Vos, Jan Fijt, Jan van den Hoecke, Frans Snyders and Adriaen van Utrecht, and with Peter Paul Rubens on the Torre de la Parada series (1636–1638). Etching and engraving by Coenraet Waumans (1619-1661), after the painting by Thomas Willeboirts Bosschaert (1613-1654). Published in Antwerp by Joannes Meyssens, in 1662, in: ,,The guilder Cabinet of the noble free Schilder-const''. Signed in print.
