Portrait of the painter Pierre van Bouc, probably Peter van Bouclé (c. 1600 - 1673), depicted with painter's palette in left hand and right hand pointing up. Van Bouclé was a Flemish painter of still lifes who spent much of his life in Paris. According to the early French biographer Florent le Comte, despite his success, he died in misery because of his dissolute life. Copper engraving by Gerard Edelinck (1640-1707). Published by Drevet. Signed in print. Presumably made in Paris, around 1680. Source: Rijksmuseum, 2015.
