Portrait bust within oval of the painter Abraham Danielsz. Hondius (c. 1631 - 1691). Two dogs at the foot. Hondius was a Dutch painter, draftsman and etcher. He produced landscapes, history paintings, portraits, still lifes and especially animal paintings, especially those depicting hunting scenes and animal fights. Hondius may have been a pupil of Cornelis Saftleven and Pieter de Bloot. Etching, signed Fiquet, after a drawing by C. Eisen. Manufactured around 1700.
