Details
Original drawing on paper in pen and ink, 1961, possibly published in the Saturday Evening Post or the New York Times, of British politician Edward Heath. Drawing on white paper is pasted onto a larger piece of paper which states on verso: ‘Kroll Karicature Service, Edward Heath, Britain, Lord Privy Seal, Man to Watch’, and a stamped New York address. Heath later became Conservative prime minister in the 1970s. Kroll, who left Germany in 1933 when the Nazis came to power, became a ‘celebrity caricaturist’ in the USA who drew caricatures of thousands of public figures in America and around the world. Paper size 15 x 10 cm (6 x 4 inch), image size 10 x 6 cm, signed lower left. In good condition.
