Original editorial cartoon on card in pencil and crayon, published in the New York Post, 1939, shows ‘Reactionary Democrats’ and ‘GOP die-hards’, as the hatchet men who will do ‘anything to defeat the administration’, this latter being that of Franklin D. Roosevelt, whose New Deal was not popular in these circles. Card size 46 x 36 cm (18 x 14.5 inch), image size 38 x 30 cm, signed and dated 7/24/1939 in lower corner. Caption in lower border. Handling stains on side borders and slight age-toning but otherwise in excellent condition.
