Portrait of Jacob Hendrik count van Rechteren van Appeltern (1787-1845), depicted as a statue, with right arm leaning on a support from which two ribbons with order crosses are hung; the whole is framed with a line, with decoration of stylized acanthus leaf at the corners. Lithograph, maker unknown, after a painting by Jan Baptist van der Hulst (1790-1862). Printed by Mensing and Last, ca. 1831-1849. Van Rechteren was a liberal Member of Parliament under King Willem I and II. He was a grandson of the patriot leader Joan Derk van der Capellen. He was a supporter of Thorbecke and in 1844 one of the 'Negenmen'. Source: National Office for Art Historical Documentation, 2015.
