Portrait of Johann van Mathenesse (1538-1602), in oval with edge lettering. Van Mathenesse was an envoy from Holland and West-Friesland during the negotiations for the Peace of Münster, above the portrait the coat of arms of Holland and below his family coat of arms. Copper engraving by Cornelis Galle II (1615-1678), after the painting by Anselm van Hulle (1601-1674 / 1694). Made in Antwerp in 1648, with the privilege of the States General and Emperor Ferdinand III of Germany. Signed in print.
