Ice hockey has been played in Amsterdam since 1934. The current ice hockey club Amsterdam Tigers was founded in 1963, and currently plays (2019-2020 season) in the 1st division. Until 2019, Amsterdam won the National title six times, in 1939 by the A.IJ.H.C. , in 1950 by the Kingfishers. The Boretti Tigers did that in 2002 and 2003. The Amsterdam Bulldogs in 2004 and 2005.
