Details
Box (242x162x145mm) is of American origin. Made of cardboard covered with dark green paper. High model with loose lid that originally was full height but, because of its bad condition, had to be cut up. The lid is printed in red and gold with the Piroxloid icon: the Mandarin. The box has a fixed front flap. Inside there are four cardboard drawers for the tiles and four small, ditto containers for the counters etc. Tiles (22x32x8mm) are made of wood. The top has been lacquered. They have been printed monochrome in red, green and blue. With the typical Piroxloid Bamboo 1, letters on the Dragons and flower tiles. There belong no spare tiles to the set. Counters are thin strips of shiny celluloid in green, blue, yellow and red. Colors and length indicate their value. Dice (2x) are made of bone with Western points. Wind indicators are made of French Ivory celluloid. There container is made of thin celluloid with French Ivory pattern. Instruction manual is the standard Piroxloid booklet (© 1923) with the Chinaman-with-Hat on the cover. The booklet is complete but in bad condition. There is also a sticker with an explanation of the value of the counters.
