Details
Box (168x203x68mm) is most likely of Chinese origin. It says so on one of the sides but this information may just relate to the contents. The box, patented April 3, 1923, is made of tin. Printed, including the bottom, in 4 colors. With on top and on the sides images of the tiles and promotion for the Babcock brand. The bottom fea-tures the Babcock booklet. The medium high and rectangular box has an attached lid that opens on the right side and an interior with a big compartment for the tiles and two smaller ones for counters etc. Tiles (21x31x11mm) are Chinese. The bamboo is of good quality. The engraving is pretty good. However Bamboo 1 is very primitive. There are no spare tiles. Counters are made of bone with Western denomination. Dice (4x) are made of bone with Chinese points. Their container is a Cricket box. Wind discs are made of black horn with white characters. Their container is a Ming box of black bone with a green character on top. Instruction manual is the red Babcock booklet.. It is the Second Dutch edition, November 1924, by The Continental Mah Jongg Sales Co. There are also a score card..
