Box (235x165x160mm) is of Western origin. Made of wood covered with a wallpaper kind of fake leather imprinted with an Art Deco pattern. Inside the box is covered with plain fake leather. The attached front, divided in two separate lids, closes with a brass lock. The messing handle is distinctively designed and engraved with ‘SMITH’. Behind the front there are 5 brass drawers made of a fine kind of wood. The drawer for counters etc. counts four compartments lined with unfixed carton board boxes. Tiles (19x29x13mm) are made of fine, thick bone and slightly thinner bamboo. The engraving is of top quality. Featuring the elaborate Characters, Dots and (pillar-shaped) Bamboos. One the flower tiles (Spring) was missing and has been re-engraved. There are three spare tiles. Counters are made of average, somewhat crude bone with Western denomination. Dice (4x) are made of bone with Chinese points. Their container is a Cricket box. Wind discs are made of somewhat soiled white bone with green characters. Their container is a white bone Ming-box. The set lacks an instruction manual.
