Catalogue information
Belgian softcover picture book without mention of year, publisher and author. The title page contains (in my copy) an advertisement for Nectar nature bee honey from the Brabantsche Honig Centrale, Nectar, available from L. Huybreghs at Tiense Steenweg 85, Lovenjoel. This book was probably used to advertise and sell or give away. The flora and fauna in this book mainly concern the Belgian Congo. Remarkable explanations such as: - (at picture 1, Elephant): 'because the Belgians are the only ones who can tame the African elephant', - (at nr.99, The hunt from the past): Before the arrival of the Belgians in Congo , the natives (les indigènes) fought the animals in all sorts of ways, with nets, ditches, traps and fire, with which they surrounded the children so that they could easily kill the animals'.
