"Peter Brock's mastery at the wheel began with this Austin A30 Sports Sedan. Built during his two year stint in National Service, "Brocky" modified an A30 body, with fiberglass doors, bonnet and bootlid, mating these to a Triumph chassis. A modified 179 Holden engine mounted further back in the chassis allowed better weight transfer. Using triple 2 inch SU carbs., the engine developed around 240bhp. The A30 was a crude but competitive machine, particularly in Peter's skilled hands.
Peter refined the car year after year from 1967 to 1970. Race spectators were often treated to spectacular battles as Peter jousted with his fellow competitors. The car recorded an astonishing 102 wins from 110 starts in both Sports Closed, Improved Production, and Sports Sedan classes. Peter would go on to ascend in (Australian) racing circles as one of the all-time greatest drivers."
