Details
Box (318x132x28mm) is of American origin. Made of heavy cardboard covered with fake-crock paper and printed with golden text and characters of the (unusual) Red and Green dragon. The box exists of a flat cover with a sliding interior pasted with black bookbinders’ linen and red paper. The inside contains two trays. One for the four racks. And one with compartments for tiles, counters etc. The racks are made of wood. One painted red and three black. The paint has been cracked. On each backside a score table has been glued. An instruction manual is also enclosed. Tiles (19x28x2mm) are made of celluloid. On top a thin layer of French Ivory (fake ivory) and on the backside an thin layer of black material. Because the used materials differ, the tiles are bend. There are only one (of 4) spare tiles and one (of 4) patent tiles. N.B. The 1915 on the Patent tile does not refer to this from 1924 originating set. Counters are thin, small disks of a synthetic material. In green, white, red and brown. Their value is unclear. Dice (2x) are made of bone with Western points. Wind indicators are of the same material as the tiles. But half their size. Instruction manual is a booklet belonging to the set. Edited by The Craftmaster Corporation. 3rd edition 1924.
