Made in England by The Chad Valley Co. Ltd. The company once was one of England’s most important toy makers. Chad Valley has used its design for boxes, tiles, wind indicators and instruction booklets over and over for some thirty years. Box (226x153x92mm) is English. Made of cardboard covered with light blue-blue-black checkered paper. The attached lid features the typical Chad Valley label. Behind the flap-front there are 5 drawers. One with four compartments for counters etc. Interior is completely covered with blue paper. Tiles (21x32x14mm) are English. They are made from wood imprinted in 3 colors with the CV-characters and graphics. Dots and Bamboos are the simple version. Bamboo 1 features a peacock. Counters are big (green, yellow, red and blue) colored disks of bone. Value 1000 points per person. Dice (2x) are made of bone and have Western points. Wind indicators (4x) are made from cardboard with glued-on Chad Valley wind characters. Instruction manual is printed by/for Chad Valley, the 1st edition, May 1923).
