Art medal designed by the renowned master engraver-medalist Paul Huybrechts. Paul Huybrechts (° Leuven, April 19, 1959) received various courses in engraving, sculpture, graphics and medal art in Belgium, Germany and Switzerland. From 1975 he became an engraver-medalist for various institutions and medal publishers. The Royal Mint of Belgium called on him for numerous official medals and coins (in BEF, ECU, EURO). The Belgian postal service commissioned him for engravings of 45 postage stamps, 5 railway stamps and 1 vignette for the philatelic world exhibition Belgica '90 in Brussels. Since 1981, Paul Huybrechts has been publishing his own creations: commemorative tokens, art medals and exclusive timepieces. The themes vary from local commemorations to the cultural world heritage. He creates pocket watches and pendulum watches with a medallion incorporated in the case and wrist watches with an exclusive engraved dial. Huybrechts took part in symposiums in central Europe for the various techniques of bronze casting. His cast work ranges from traditional to experimental. Huybrechts was co-founder and former chairman of the Professional Association of Masters Engravers vzw in 1976 and merged it with the Nederlandse Engraveursvereniging in 2006. He was co-founder of the Promotion of the Medal vzw in 1987. As a member of the International Medal Federation (FIDEM), Huybrechts closely follows the evolution of medal art and participates in conferences and exhibitions all over the world. He is a Belgian representative at FIDEM.
