Justin II. 565-578. Solidus. Constantinople mint. Struck 567-578. Helmeted and cuirassed facing bust, bearded, holding Victory on globe and shield / Constantinopolis enthroned facing, head right, holding spear and globe; ӨS//OB*+*. DOC 138 (Theoupolis mint); SB 376 (Theoupolis mint). Extremely rare. Neither DOC nor SB note the two varieties of this type with bearded portrait and beardless portrait. The beardless type is fairly common, while the bearded type is exceptionally rare. The weight equals 22 siiliqua (about 4,08 grams).
