Details
In 1948 a new series of small cars, the Minor MM series, was introduced to replace the ageing E-series saloon and Z-series van. The series II Minor appeared in 1952, followed a year later by a 5cwt van. The van body had a capacity of 78 cu ft. plus a further 12 cu ft. beside the driver. The Minor van became a huge success with all kinds of business users and was particularly popular with public utilities such as Post Office Telephones and the Royal Mail. The National Roads Association was formed in 1920, specifically to lobby for better roads and in 1923 became the National Roads and Motorists' Association (NRMA). Road service was introduced in 1924. Today, NRMA Motoring & Services is Australia's largest motoring organization servicing almost two million members and covers around 2.5 million cars. Roadside assistance is at the heart of NRMA and is the core service provided to members. During 2002-2003 NRMA attended more than two million roadside incidents across NSW and the ACT. The Morris 1000 Panel van was used by the NRMA between 1960 and 1967. Changed working conditions made the change from the previous Morris Commercial van to the smaller compact vehicle, more desirable. During this period, 101 Morris Minors were purchased and they travelled over 5.8 million miles. In 1960 the NRMA had 142 patrols. In 2004 NRMA has over 1000 patrols in 900 vans servicing NSW and ACT. 2.500 of VA01120 were packed in special Australia boxes (VA01120a), the remainder in BMC boxes (VA01120b). Limited Edition 2.500 pcs. (N; non-certificated)
