Details
The Hillman Minx was the first ever ‘Panda’ car used by the Somerset County Constabulary and it was based at Taunton. It was originally purchased in black and was used by senior officers only. However, with the advent of ‘unit beat policing’ in 1965, many forces repainted existing cars into the now familiar blue and white, adding roof boxes to help make them more identifiable.
