Heinrich Ernemann founded a small camera factory called "Ernemann AG" in 1889. Around 1900 the factory had grown into a well-known quality company that not only made photo cameras but also lenses, filters, film cameras, viewmasters and projectors. With this Ernemann Film K box camera - largely made of wood and completely handmade - it was possible to take eight pictures of 6x9 cm on a roll film (type 120). The same model box camera is also available with the Zeiss Ikon logo on it. These were produced after 1926 following a merger with Zeiss Ikon that year. Even slightly rarer are the larger format Ernemann Film K boxes with which 6x11 cm negatives could be made. This 'Ernemann Film K' has a meniscus lens with a largest opening of f:12.5 and a smallest aperture of f:25. The shutter is a simple rotary valve shutter of 1/50 sec. with time recording option. The film could be inserted via a side-hinged hatch.
