Details
Orient Blue Vauxhall (the UK arm of General Motors) managed to get the Cavalier out in 1981, just ahead of its deadly rival, the Sierra, and they represented an interesting difference of approach between the two companies. The GM ‘J Car’, as it was known internally, was a smart, well equipped, front wheel drive C sized car that was available from the outset as a hatch or saloon. It had attractive up to date, but not avant-garde styling and was, in short, exactly what customers wanted. The Sierra on the other hand was only available as a hatchback and although it looked futuristic was actually rear wheel drive and in some ways more old fashioned than the Cavalier, which was the first car in the world to be designed ‘virtually’. The Cavalier CD modelled here was the most luxurious car in the range. Limited Edition 2.510 pcs. (with certificate)
