The Sega Game Gear was a color handheld video game console released in 1991. Basically it was a handheld version of the Master System. Th unit could play Master System cartridges by using the MasterGear Converter (see object 1132485). The unit could be connected to a dedicated TV tuner. Although the Game Gear was technically more advanced and had a color screen it could not compete with the Game Boy. Nevertheless it was the second best selling handheld of the nineties. Production was discontinued in 1998.
