Pictured is the CMC dairy factory on Dorpsstraat seen towards the east-northeast. This company was founded on March 28, 1893 by five livestock farmers from Assendelft, namely Willem Jongejans, Jan Jongejans, Maarten IJff, Gerrit IJff and Jan Kleyne. They started a small cheese factory, called de Hoop, at Dorpsstraat 157. They worked under the company name Jongejans & Compagnie. In 1916 it was decided to build a completely new factory. This factory was built a little further north on Dorpsstraat, near the current address Kaasmaker 1-31. From 1947 onwards they worked under the name Coöperatieve Melk Centrale, the CMC. The factory depicted was built in 1952 to replace the factory buildings from 1916. The dairy factory was finally closed in or around 1978, the factory complex was demolished in 1982.
