Translate to English Thanks for the link, but apparently not 100% reliable after all? If I have looked closely, the last stamps from Belgium are from October 2011. I know that things are going badly with Bpost, but I did not know that it was that bad LOL.

Inderdaad. In de doelstellingen van WNS vind ik:
The WNS therefore serves as a primary reference tool for checking postage stamp issues, helping to safeguard the philatelic industry against illegal issues.

Translate to English Indeed. In the objectives of WNS I find:
The WNS therefore serves as a primary reference tool for checking postage stamp issues, helping to safeguard the philatelic industry against illegal issues.
Presumably preference is given to the risk countries, such as Congo (Republic). There are about 100,000 stamps in that database for the period 2002-2020. Apart from the 'official' Cinderellas, I have not yet seen any illegal issues for Belgium during that period. There may be a few, but due to the reasonably good documentation (OBP, Michel, Yvert) that area will not be a spearhead for UPU / WNS. ravaged by the illegal stamp producers (the leeches of philately). Because those countries are so vulnerable, and often no detailed (philately) documentation is available.
There is also a fairly large overview of the 'Illegal stamps' (illegal issues). But because it concerns illegal issues, this overview is far from complete. After all, there is no catalog to check it out for a moment :) Yet I do find most of it in it. In the overview you can clearly see that the illegal market mainly concerns Africa and Asia.

"The Ministry of Posts and Communications of Georgia therefore states that, as Abkhazia and South Ossetia form an integral part of the Republic of Georgia, all postage stamps bearing the words 'Republic of Abkhazia', 'Republic of South Ossetia' and 'Batumi Post' are illegal and cannot be used as a method of payment."

I only see 5 with the 'No Postage Value' attribute... In a real country they should have that attribute. In a ' - Cinderella' area, the usage type property is then used again.
The areas 'Congo-Kinshasa - Cinderella' and 'Russian Federation - Chechnya - Cinderella' have been filled. In the Congos there may still be a doubtful case here and there, but very limited.
Fantasyland: 2,099 more items.
[Unspecified] : 32 more items, with some also going to disappear very soon.
I think the 'Unesco gift stamps' may be placed in Fantasyland?
No idea why so many contributions had 'Unspecified'. Seems like a strategy of 'Voilà, here's a picture, make your plan with it. But I have it for sale in my 'stamp shop'.
An 'Unspecified' contribution should end up in the 'Other' category by default. There are no stamp buyers there: the seller (importer) would probably think twice.
Especially: the name of the country/area is (almost always) on it!
Or at least prevent an 'unspecified' item from being added to collection or shop.
A nice alternative is to provide one fixed 'blank' item where anyone who needs it can hang their own image and put it up for sale. One blank item, which could get hundreds of providers over time. Pointless? Yes, a collection of pointless things in one pointless item.
Appropriate title for that item: 'édition paresse'. Without capital letters. Using that shift key is too much :) :) :) :)

'Illegale uitgave' lijkt me gevaarlijk.
Misleidende promotie echter is strafbaar.

'Illegal expense' seems dangerous to me. Anyone can and may make seals and put whatever they want on them. Only registered trademarks (SECA - AH - Disney - ...) can lead to convictions, but then because of the rights to a trademark.
However, misleading promotion is punishable. They may not be presented as postage stamps.
Now if you put up 'Dreamland' stamps and don't sell them as postage, then no one can make you anything. There are such fantasy editions that are even very popular. sometimes they are even works of art.
And importing 'gold stamps' into a country for $ 20 million and trying to evade import duties by hiding behind 'stamps' is also punishable. The papers themselves are not illegal. They are just not POST stamps.

Translate to English Time for an argument.
To offer the ignorant collector, or the ignorant occasional salesman, the opportunity to 'know'. I think that is much more important than keeping silent about them or keeping them jealously secret.
By showing them separately in a '- Cinderella' area, everyone can see which stamps are not stamps. By also making it clear in the area text (explanation per country / area) that they are not postage stamps, you at least give the collectors the opportunity to make a distinction. The question has already been asked: 'How can you know that they are not real stamps?'
By showing them, in an environment that allows searching (and finding).
Only if LD regarding the stamps (and related products) would be complete, and daily up-to-date, you might be able to reverse the roles.
But that is not, and never will. Even WSN does not show complete lists of UPU approved stamps. For example, you will not find a single stamp of the Netherlands in the period 2002-2020 on their site. Because there are none? No. Because emphasis is placed on the risk areas. And showing 100,000 official stamps for that period of those risk areas, that's already a lot to keep track of! In addition, the backlog is large: not a single stamp in the official lists of 2021 yet. Do you find your stamp on it: ok, it's official. Can't find him? Well, then it can or it cannot ... There is no certainty.
They dare to show, with an explanation. Anyone can read. Anyone who doesn't bother to see it likes to be ripped off. You could have known.
Those willing to make the effort will embrace that possibility as a blessing.
The alternative is to purchase the latest paper specialized official country catalogs every year. Of all countries. Because the big overall are not as reliable as you think. Michel, Yvert, Scott and especially Gibbons sometimes miss the ball. With or without financial compensation in their favor.
Or just take official subscriptions with the postal authorities of the countries you collect. Nice ... then you always have everything MNH. OK. And that is where the hobby ends. Then you don't need an LD platform to go on a raid (search to fill holes).
Hence the importance of the LD platform for stamp collectors, among others. It offers collectors the opportunity to share their knowledge with the others. Do you think an 'illegal' product? Make a scan and place it in the appropriate box ('nnnnn - Cinderella'). It is then very easy to find in less than 5 minutes. Wherever in the world.
And, as mentioned earlier, what you get by accident, you can get the youngest to collect. Those stamps are worth nothing, but they can claim a didactic value. Until the real collector blossoms in it. Then they can be passed on again to cause the microbe to skip.
Finally, which sellers on LD are you going to approach if they offer a 'Cinderella' for sale and you don't want to? How can you keep them out? There are still entries from over 8 years that have never been reviewed.
No. Giving a channel and a place. You can then, consciously or unconsciously, still bring them to the wrong (official) country. But ANY collector on LD can put them in their place within seconds after that.
From and for collectors.

Gr. Peter

Translate to EnglishSince Staffa in Scotland has just been added, I have grouped all the Staffa stamps I could find across 3 locations into: Great Britain - Staffa - Cinderella
Alone #6584045 remains, because it is frozen.
Putting Staffa in order will come another time.
I have already marked a few as duplicates, which I saw right away.
At least they're all together now.

Prima gedaan Peter!

Translate to EnglishWell done Peter! And Arthur, of course. Yesterday I had already collected and cleaned up 'Lundy' and 'Ingushetia'. And then I got stuck in my research :) Sometimes the background is intriguingly addictive. The forum too.
Situation:
Fantasyland has shrunk to 1,582 items (we're coming from > 4,000).
[Unspecified] has been reduced to 2 items: one duplicate and one Djibouter that I don't know how to handle for the time being, because of many other things that are ongoing.

Translate to EnglishAart, I would dare suggest, if urgent, to park them in 'Fantasyland' for the time being, with the series name: YYYY Area name - series name.
Then they can be found in a jiffy like that areas are next. For the time being there will not be that many I think.
Where there are many: Angola, Malawi, Niger, Mozambique ... And they are in the country itself at the moment.
Malawi I just started, and for Mozambique also already has a '- Cinderella' area.
If Zane agrees, then we can tackle the purge operation (deduplication) little by little. there is also a clear view of the impact. Can we learn from that which area can be given priority? After all, you can search and select very dynamically via 'Series name'. And so open series by series in a new work window for processing.
