It is listed as the first LP / Record of the classic genre and when I look at the picture, it doesn't look like a record. Is it some kind of press?

And if it is a music carrier, should it be given a separate section in the hope that other phonographs will be added? Or is it right where it is now with the remark that it is a phonograph cylinder?

PS: apparently copy + paste does not work in Firefox, if I had to do it in IE it will work.

PS2: I only see it now. Congratulations to Collector of the Week!

Thanks Scam! I now know how you felt when it became you. I think the collector of the year is always surprised by someone else, but I haven't figured that out. I will immediately see if I can add items to my collection faster.

My question was actually Catawiki item 2357209 . I wanted to see if I could add some classic records to my collection and to CataWiki and that item caught my eye.

I took the liberty of copying the image and posting it here:

Phonograph cylinder

You have to insert the image with the HTML code. At least that's how I do it.

And when I look at the image like this, it seems very difficult to put that cylinder underneath. Can someone explain me more? It makes me very curious and unfortunately there is only 1 image with the item.

do you really not see the role on which the horn 'rests'? You shouldn't think of an ordinary turntable. The needle is moved along the cylinder wall (or rather the cylinder is moved along the needle), because in the cylinder wall are the grooves.

Now there is indeed a record playing and I hear music! (I get it)

I had not thought that the roll should of course be kept horizontal. Through the photo I could see in my mind the horn on the top of the cylinder and so I thought it was a bit high.

I have never seen anything like this in real life. I do have a record player with film projecter on which you have to hold a horn, but this one is very old. Nice to see and thanks for the explanation.
