Spotify has recently become available in Belgium. I am very interested in that, but now it appears that Facebook is mandatory for new users. I hate creating a Facebook account.

Should I do it anyway, someone knows if it is possible to remain anonymous and what I have to do for that

I happened to create an account with facebook last week. As far as I understand you get everyone from your MSN and then their friends to add to your account. Of course you don't have to, but you will see them (I have to figure out how to get that away).

And you can put your facebook account on a kind of private, but everyone can still see the normal overview. You just don't have access to the photos and other things. Just create an account with Graaf Zwendel then eh ;-)

From your E-mail account that you specify. So create a new E-mail account with no addresses in it and you should be pretty anonymous then ;-)

OK thanks. Surely that is a shame of them, do they scan your email account and msn account? That is not allowed, is it?

So new email address and name. Count Scam would be nice, but I think they'll realize it's fake. Jan-Pieter Vanbommerskonten seems more appropriate to me ;-)

Salman Rushdie was also banned from Facebook. Had they made Ahmed Rushdie of their own accord, because that's his real name. So I doubt whether you will succeed with Vanbommerskonten ... (;-)

It will have to be Faarg Lednewz again. Political refugee in Belgium from Uzhambotskibekenstan. Hobbies deep-sea chess and standing seesaw. Profession contractor of all work. Happily married and many children.

I think it should work with such a profile.

Salman Rushdie's is very strong. That Zuckerberg looks like an 'improved' version of Bill Gates.

I continued to search for those email addresses. Apparently, when you create a facebook account, you give them permission to look up and use the email addresses of your contacts. You can apparently turn this off, but it is 'on' by default.

I think that is very bad. That means they install some spyware to scan your emails. I think I will stop using Spotify for the time being :-(

I have no idea how they do it but maybe I missed turning it off. I can add as many as 500 people who are supposedly a friend of a friend.

Have looked for alternatives. I found Grooveshark

Looks very nice and you are not required to be registered with Facebook or Google. It is useful, I think, because then you can find nice songs from others better, I think.

I wanted Spotify because it can also be used separately from the PC (eg via the Logitec Squeezebox or better even Onkyo A/V receivers), no idea if that also works with Grooveshark.

Apparently there has already been some discussion about the link with Facebook .

And I was willing to pay for it, can understand that they demand a link for the free account, but for the paying one?
