Hello all, My name is Petra and thanks to a legacy I have taken up stamp collecting again after more than 30 years. The intention was that I would categorize everything, but after a few weeks I thought it was so much fun that I decided to expand and supplement the collection. I start with the Netherlands, after 1945, everything MNH. If experienced collectors or dealers have any tips for me, please let me know. Let's start first with getting my complete collection on Catawiki, that's quite a job. But quite nice -;)

Welcome as a collector.

It takes a lot of time, but it is also very rewarding.

Put everything in stockbooks. Instead of those precious stamp books.

It's about the stamps. The additions are very expensive.

I regretted this and stopped.

I want to save you this and I don't hear anything else at the club.

Many people hate these additions.

Become a member of an association to gain knowledge.

This is of course also possible via catawike (forum)

Welcome to Catawiki

Micho

Silly Pietje

Yes, you can start wrong? But what do you want to get rid of? If you want to sell the stamps, you are at the right place at Catawiki.

Incidentally, the face looks very familiar to me!

i am also new here and live in belgium. in fact I am not a collector but since I have often heard something positive about it. I have decided to commit to it as well. usually my attention goes to the comics of jommeke and suske en wiske. but as I see here you can do many sets. but am not yet ready to snoop around and then choose in which direction I want to go? I am also interested in certain DVDs such as action, western, and horror.

Anyone who has tips for a novice is always welcome.

greetings

zorro from Belgium.

Dear Zorro,

the great thing about CataWiki is that you don't have to specialize in 1 collection! Of course it is cheaper;), but that doesn't make it any less fun.

I also collect much more than 1 subject myself and this site is very useful for that. You also keep completing your collection in the CataWiki catalog, because it takes a lot of time to enter your collection. I do that myself bit by bit when I have time, but I am often still busy until late.

That's why I want to warn about your social life, before you know it you'll be a CataWiki addict;)!

So my tip is, take your time and make a lot of use of the search function at the top. Can't find your item (item from your collection)? First try to find your item in other ways (entries in a database (technical term)).

For example, you can search by publisher or another category in the comics by clicking on one of the above categories. Sometimes / often an item is not correctly entered in the Catalog and then it is more difficult to find.

Correct incorrect or incomplete entries in the Catalog! If you do that, other collectors can also better see what kind of item it is and we get a better CataWiki catalog.

I hope this will benefit you and others.

Good luck!

Well, all those personal emails, I can hardly get through it anymore. Maybe there is something worse than being an administrator :-)

Hey everyone,

I am also new to this forum here. This is because I have decided to take up my former hobby again, my stamp collection.

I started this as an 18-year-old, but in a 'casual' way. I have put all the stamps per country, but without any order or logical thinking :). Now that I want to continue with this collection, I would have liked some tips. Because to be honest, I don't know where to start.

I am left with stamps from about 60 different countries, which provide a total of around 10000 stamps. Most of these, of course, Belgium, my country of origin :)

I had already received the tip to work per country, and then divide it again per year. But I have several questions about this:

Should MNH be kept separate?
What do I do with stamps that I have duplicate?
Many stamps do not even mention the year of publication, do I have to look them all up in the catalog?
I'm not sure which stockbooks to choose. There are different suppliers, each with their own qualities, but I think Davo stockbooks with coats of arms are cool? Good idea?

So many questions, so many stamps, so few answers :)

Thank you in advance for anyone who can help me on my way ... (oh yes and these are not the only questions I have heard)

Grts Kristof

Louveak, Kristof

I responded with a personal e-mail.

Maybe we can do something for each other. I also save Belgium and I have many doubles in the Netherlands. However, I still have a lot to say and that takes time

Sincerely,

Micho Rooseboom

N.B. Let us hear from you.
