Jilles,

You had to wait almost 4 months for a response, but here it is:

When trying to organize the postcards, we forgot that the postcards are also part of a larger whole, namely:

Maps .

These can be divided into 3 (?) Groups:

  1. Postcards (preprinted cards for writing a message, often with preprinted postage),
  2. Picture postcards. (cards with an image on one side and place for address, message and sender on the other).
  3. Cards that are not directly addressed and stamped: Birth cards, prayer cards, etc.
The 2nd group, the Picture cards, can be divided into:
  1. Postcards (Village and town views)
  2. Greeting cards
  3. Christmas, New Year cards and combinations of both,
    Birthday cards
Maps by illustrators (Anton Pieck - Rie Cramer- Dick Bruna)
    Movie star cards
  4. Freecards.
  5. ....
  6. .....
  7. ....

So we got off to a bad start with postcards. It is not an "all-over" name, but part of a larger whole.

But an important part. :-)

Before everything is turned upside down, a thorough inventory of all types of cards is desirable. Who starts?

I think Jottum has already made a very good start. I would therefore like to add the photo cards to the 2nd group, the picture postcards. These are photos with the option to enter an address on the back. Some cards have a dividing line for text on the left and an address on the right, and some just don't. Old cards often bear the stamp of the local shop. If the photos are very special, then there is sometimes the stamp of the photographer on them. Just added one with stamp at Eernewoude (Simmerwente)

Furthermore, the question of what occasion cards should fall under. Such as a special opening or anniversary announcements or the like.

There are also postcards where you can only write on the front, I also thought a special name. But I think they should simply fall under picture postcards, because otherwise a collector will lose his way completely. And for the mutual links it is also more useful in the database, I think, because all maps of 1 particular overview is still quite difficult in CataWiki.
