Enige jaren geleden verzocht een oudere heer (81) mij te zoeken naar een stripverhaal met daarin ene Pat Onnozel. Die had hij vroeger gelezen in een krant in het noorden van het land. Ik wist niet wie hij bedoelde en heb wel gezocht maar niet gevonden. Toevallig afgelopen week vond ik op Catawiki een kleine foto van een niet te koop zijnde sleutelhanger met daarop een afbeelding van ene Pat O'nozel die een figuur was binnen de strip Bommel en Tom Poes. Ten minste, als ik het goed begrepen heb. Voor deze oudere heer (inmiddels 84) wil ik graag een paar boekjes te pakken zien te krijgen maar ik ben geen kenner. Wie kan mij vertellen wie Pat O'nozel was (is) en of er boekjes zijn waarin hij voorkomt. Op 8 november is hij jarig en ik zou hem graag een leuk kadootje geven.

A few years ago an elderly gentleman (81) asked me to search for a comic strip featuring a certain Pat Onnozel. He had previously read it in a newspaper in the north of the country. I didn't know who he meant and I searched but not found. Coincidentally, last week I found a small photo on Catawiki of a key ring not for sale with an image of a Pat O'nozel who was a character in the comic Bommel and Tom Poes. That is, if I understood correctly. I would like to get hold of a few books for this older gentleman (now 84), but I am not an expert. Who can tell me who Pat O'nozel was (is) and if there are any books in which he appears. It is his birthday on November 8th and I would like to give him a nice gift.

Pat O'nozel is inderdaad een stripfiguurtje van Marten Toonder, maar niet uit Bommel en Tom Poes. Het is een bijfiguur uit de strip Panda. Pat O'Nozel is een detective die in diverse verhalen voorkomt.
Er zijn van Panda zowel ondertekst-strips (tekst onder de plaatjes) als balloon-strips (tekst in de plaatjes) gemaakt. De inmiddels nog net geen 85 jarige heer heeft in zijn krant ongetwijfeld de ondertekst-strips gelezen.
Als je op zoek bent naar betaalbare versies van die verhalen kun je waarschijnlijk het beste eens bij de Skarabee pockets neuzen. Panda vind je hier (linkje) Kies uit de albumreeksen (links op de bladzijde) de Skarabee Pockets.
Ik weet alleen niet uit mijn hoofd in welke verhalen Pat wel en niet meespeelt, maar een goede verkoper zal je daar ongetwijfeld mee willen en kunnen helpen.

edit: Een ander niet al te duur boekje waar Pat O'Nozel zeker in meespeelt (hij staat zelfs op de voorplaat!) is de Wolters-Noordhoff uitgave van "Panda - Het geheimzinnige glas water". Dat boekje is te vinden onder CW 25302

Pat O'nozel is indeed a cartoon character of Marten Toonder, but not from Bommel and Tom Poes. It is a minor character from the comic Panda. Pat O'Nozel is a detective who appears in several stories.
Panda has made both subtitle strips (text below the pictures) and balloon strips (text in the pictures). The now just under 85-year-old gentleman has undoubtedly read the subtext strips in his newspaper.
If you're looking for affordable versions of those stories, it's probably best to browse the Skarabee pockets. Panda can be found here (linkje ) Choose from the album series (left on the page) the Skarabee Pockets .
I just don't know by heart which stories Pat does and does not play in, but a good salesperson will undoubtedly want and be able to help you with that.

Naar aanleiding van het antwoord van Pegag heb ik gezocht en het boekje gevonden waar ook Pat O'Nozel zelfs op de voorpagina staat.

Bij een verzamelaar heb ik dit boekje aangeschaft en het ligt klaar om op de juiste datum bij mijn oudere kennis in de brievenbus te glijden. Natuurlijk ben ik nog steeds geen kenner en ik vraag mij af of ik ergens kan nakijken in welke aflevering Pat O'Nozel nog meer voorkomt. Is er iemand die weet waar ik dat kan of die het toch al weet?

I bought this booklet from a collector and it is ready to slip into the letterbox of my older acquaintance on the correct date. Of course I am still not an expert and I wonder if I can check somewhere else in which episode Pat O'Nozel appears. Does anyone know where I can do that or who already knows?
