Do you know where I can buy a cheap hallmark finder?

Everything very expensive. I rarely use it, but it is necessary.
For the sales price, that is.

I'm shocked when I look at the links from Charles1971... those things have become quite expensive, or they are expensive providers.

I bought the T3 #9099547 new for about 180 euros, barely a year ago.
I also have the T1 and the T2, but they do not have the handy color function.
Anyone considering purchasing a Signoscope should definitely go for the T3.
However, it is not a panacea. You still have to be lucky that the watermark appears clearly recognizable, and above all good eyes (this is no longer the case with me, unfortunately).
The most effective method remains a black bowl and some gasoline.

Tooth gauge #3206545 is a slightly more expensive affair. But really super easy to use and extremely effective. It measures exactly to 1/4. That machine is more than worth the money.
You do have to measure several times during use. Due to the rounding/rounding it may fluctuate somewhat. Measure 10 times and use what is shown most on the screen.
However, this is less successful with old stuff whose perforation is not regular. With older stamps, the first copies were still neatly serrated, but after a while the pins became worn. And they were not always replaced in time. For example, you will usually not be able to measure a stamp such as #6353441 or #1320887 electronically. Then you can calculate it manually (less accurate).

I agree with Raoul62  heap and far more efficient is using gasoline but be careful for yiur health using it at leat open widely windows or do it outdoor.

Professional stamp experts use gasoline.
