In recent years, the ISBN is no longer mentioned, but only the barcode.
But that barcode is also the ISBN!
So in the future it will not be possible to enter many ISBN numbers, or?

The ISBN is usually stated in the colophon and we can see what is or is not filled in. Always remains a surprise, right?

lordernie unfortunately the ISBN is not always the same as the barcode.
Perhaps unnecessarily: the ISBN is (should be, for books) always at the top.
The barcode often has other purposes (usually business).
example from the catalog:

the bottom line the EAN (13): the barcode format of the ISBN. The rightmost one is an EAN-5 (currency and price).

I think lordernie mainly refers to books from after the introduction of the 13-digit ISBN

Yes, as of 2010 many still only use the barcode, which is also the ISBN

I think this: No ISBN mention on the back, but as I indicated, it is in the colophon

lordernie Jilles I think it is more complex.
And something is forced on you in a business sense. Simply because it all overlaps.
ISBN and EAN-13, and then you get GS1 and UPC, who is using which one when? (and is therefore used/shown? If you delve into this, you will get a headache.
Isn't a statement simply clearer (even if it is not always correct): When using letters ISBN > ISBN number (10 and after 2007 13) and without letters EAN-13? Derived from this are the GS1 (usually NL and Belgium) and UPC for USA?. Just a thought, it doesn't have to be a new discussion... (I also refer to this topic , which has now been partly overtaken by the business sector).

lordernie
And isn't there an ISBN on the colophon page for those books?
According to the instructions of the ISBN Bureau (which regulates the issuance of these numbers), it must be mentioned in the colophon and on the back of the book.
But even before everyone used barcodes, the ISBN was not always printed on the back of a book.

Boekenmagazijn
I think that in the future the ISBN will never be mentioned separately again, as printing costs are less than 1 cent per 200,000 copies! :-)
