hello.

I have a little problem identifying a coin.
this is a coin with the text
“Confederatio helvetica”
a female head.

the back (or front, whatever that one has)
flowers with a 10 on them

have also looked at coins gallery but maybe overlooked or it doesn't look right.

greetings Kevin

10 raps Switzerland is the oldest unaltered coin design still in circulation in the world. Likewise the 5 raps and the 20 raps.

Who can tell me about a 10 guilder coin from 1897 (Wilhelmina)

I have a coin here that I cannot find anywhere in a catalog, as it is silver in color (much lighter than silver) and yet an exact copy of the gold coin from 1897.

It has been in my possession for over 30 years.

My suspicion is that it is counterfeit, how do I possibly determine the value / origin of such a coin?

Thanks in advance!

No other 10 guilders was made in 1897 than a gold one. A silver is probably a version that is made to be used in jewelery, whether gold plated or not. I know aluminum versions. The term counterfeit goes a bit far, usually it is clear that it is not a gold coin.

Ok, interesting, because how can I determine whether the coin is really that old, I have a feeling for an aluminum version. it is less heavy than a silver coin.

In any case, thank you very much for your response!

The counterfeit coin (so token) will have been made after 1980, when gold was expensive and these coins became fashionable in jewelery.

Often a different, non-existent, mint master's mark / mint mark was used with these coins, to ensure that the coin could not be regarded as a counterfeit.
