Hello, I'm Natasja from Rotterdam and happened to have some nice beautiful prints on a few 2 euro coins (which, apart from the fact that I liked them, didn't have a particularly high value). look. And now I think I have come across a coin from 2001 that is Yes a misprint. Could someone help me with this maybe?
Gr Natasjaja

And what does that misprint consist of, according to you? I don't see any difference #237253 .

Well, the 00 is also printed in the gold part, but I think the points of some stars are missing. I happen to have another coin from 2001 and then this would not be correct because the 00 of 2001 is simply below the gold part

And my question was rather whether one of you could provide more info, because on a site, for example, the same coin is offered for an absurd amount and I actually wanted advice from an expert.

Hello Natasjaja , it seems to me to be a mistake indeed. A small mistake, it seems that the coin is not completely centered or that something went wrong with the proportions of the outer ring.

In terms of value, you have to take into account the fact that more than 230 million of these coins were minted in 2001, so any misses like this will not be super rare.
Slightly more dramatic misses like the one below are more coveted by collectors because they look very unusual or are rarer. For example, this was recently sold on Catawiki for 254 euros.

I sometimes see coins like yours for sale on 2dehands.be for hundreds of euros, but as far as I've seen, such subtle mistakes are difficult to sell for that price. In the end, a miss is only worth what the collector is willing to pay for it, and this type has only a small added value. If I were to sell something like this, I could perhaps expect about 5 euros for it.

It's still fun to look for mistakes in our change, so if you ever find something special, let us know and maybe we'll find something unique :)

Just posted it on the forum, no misprint but rare I think half silver dollar from Kennedy from 86.
And furthermore I understand that my picture of the French 2 euro. The Tree of Life must be a bit different because someone has placed it in the catalogue, or at least I still have to provide the photos for it. And that's nice too.

Good evening!
the strike itself is centered, which tells me that this is not a mishit (incidental error) but a variant (several copies minted)
this could be due to a too small design on the stamp.

In the first years, many variants can be found in, for example, the size of the coin image, the serration of the edge, and even in the stars. a well-known example is the 1 cent Belgium 1999 or the rotating star variants of Germany.

Unfortunately I cannot say much about rarity as not much information is known about this yet.
