Charles1971 huupia , Unfortunately, we can't just change this because agreements were made about this when the collectors platform moved from Catawiki to LastDodo. Perhaps something will change in this area in the future.

Rene , good plan , join us.
It is normal that nowadays for all leisure activities there are costs.
Cafe, theater, museums yes even sitting at home (Netflix) visiting etc etc is already in the papers.

You can increase the prices in your shop. With that you have your subscription back. The prices of all items are usually way too low anyway.

aartinge ,
As said, we will communicate this early next week. We want to do this carefully and also have it immediately available for people to purchase a subscription (which then only starts on December 1 and will then also be charged). And that's not done yet.

:) If the 'size' is going to be determined by the 'value' of the shop (catalog value LD), then perhaps a number of users will now realize that copying the values from paper catalogs, which are way too high, is not so was a good idea. At least for the Stamps section.
Furthermore: full agreement that with a certain degree of use (benefit) a particle is transferred to LD.

Raoul62 ,
When determining the size of a shop, we always look at sales prices and not at list prices. This is already applied when calculating "Value of your shop" which you can see in Items in My Shop. However, the catalog values for stamps are often indeed much higher than the sales prices and that should be more in line.

So can the list prices disappear and the average selling price can then replace it?. At least gives a realistic picture.

What happens to albums that are already for sale in a shop, but no subscription is purchased? Just say some kind of transitional arrangement

I asked myself the same question: what if you now have items in your shop? Not subscribing means they will be deleted? I will make the decision for myself based on the price of the subscription. If it's too expensive, then everything will go off and it will be for the 2nd hand platforms. I suspect I won't be alone ;-) If you sell comics for a few paltry euros or even cents, then the suds don't seem worth the coal, even if you have a lot of items in your shop. Not everyone buys 50 strips in one go.

Seems like an understandable move to me. Many here like to spend hours on LD for their hobby. Then it makes sense that a penny is asked for some things. The catalog is now incredibly extensive and valuable (and remains free to use). If you also see which developments have already taken place (programmers do not work for free), it makes perfect sense.

"As I said, we will communicate this at the beginning of next week. We want to do this carefully and also have it immediately available for people to take out a subscription (which then only starts on December 1 and will then also be charged). And that is not yet finished."

One doesn't exclude the other, does it?
Then people can already think about the possibilities that are / will be, and the steps that can be taken.
Good idea? Sincerely, Han

Most shops will not have to pay if I read it all like this.

ddelaere A smaller shop will not be affected. Even better advantage.

Rene
1. Are 'duty-conscious' users also taken into account when determining the rate?
In addition to administrators, I know that a number of users contribute to a better catalog on an almost daily basis. Who view many incoming items with a magnifying glass, and very early on give a signal to a manager if a Tsunami is imminent (an influx of new items that are not brought in as agreed).
With the data available on LD you may be able to detect them automatically.
I ask the question because I wouldn't want to miss out on those dutiful users, for no money.
Maybe it's not necessary, will depend on the criteria (if a shop is involved, and the size based on ???).
2. Will it also be possible to suspend the contribution obligation when the shop is temporarily closed?
3. Will turnover or the number of sales of a shop play a role?

And then for everyone to think about…
The best is in the ' package ' as 'Premium'. Whoever pays gets more. More possibilities. Without those features, LD will be perfectly workable for the average collector/seller.
Additional features (which cost money to develop and maintain) offer the user choice. Are those extra options worth the contribution?
A user can also decide: for that price I am happy to contribute to this excellent project. Solidarity. Or perhaps self-interest? If the revenues are sufficient for LD to cover the costs, then LD will continue to exist . If the costs exceed the income, there is no guarantee.
Economic logic.

Another thought for everyone:
You can also offset costs through advertising. I know a site where you are attacked on all sides (left, right, top, bottom, middle, ...) by advertising banners. Whatever you do, your screen shifts every once in a while due to those advertising banners that provide the revenue.
It makes me dizzy and cranky. Everything, but not that.

Regardless of what's to come (I'm waiting) how nice that you mention the active members who are regularly busy for the benefit of the catalog. Whether or not these members have a shop (in addition to a collection) is not even relevant to me. But putting them in the spotlight in this way is great, that motivates.

What happens to albums that are already for sale in a shop, but no subscription is purchased? Just say some kind of transitional arrangement

If your shop does not match the (free or not) subscription you have on December 1, it will be temporarily closed. Then you can calmly consider whether you still want to take out a subscription, possibly make your shop a bit smaller so that it fits into a (free or paid) subscription, or decide to leave it closed for the time being. No items are deleted so you can always get started.

If everything is clear at the beginning of next week, you have until December 1 to think about the possibilities and the steps to be taken, Han :-)
