See for example, more for information

I have another part Gathering Storm, ditto slightly different signature.
Internet and specifically Abobooks, you will find out that Jordan cs and other now famous writers have their books provided with a printed signature. These look so "real" that you should know before buying something it's not...
What I actually think is bad that both publishers and authors apparently do not indicate in the books themselves (not even in the colophon) that a signature printed is therefore not "real".

The honest seller on Abebooks does add something like "flat signed fascimile". That does not imply an original signature. The result is undoubtedly that books have now been bought by enthusiasts who think they have a writing by their favorite writer in their hands, with a ditto price tag. Oh yes, I bought the books today, but I already doubted the authenticity, so no Kat in de Zak for me.

I don't think it means what you think it means: https://www.theguardian.com/books/booksblog/2014/may/16/flat-signed-book-collecting-term:

But in the last couple of years I have noticed, in signing my books at literary festivals, that more and more people just want a signature. Not an inscription to personalize the book. No added date, or place. Just a signature, thanks. Flat signed. I have become a flat signer.

What you mean is not that the pages are not signed, but that a whole stack of pages of the book are delivered to the author to be later bound in the signed copies (that's called a 'tipped in page'): https: //www.vjbooks.com/What-are-tipped-in-pages-and-do-they-affect-book-value-s/956.htm

Thanks for your comment. I have read the books blog article. If I understand correctly it was written by a "dealer" in rare and/or requested books? , also a writer because he/she talks about himself/herself as a flat signer?

In my example of Robert Jordan, I have seen several signatures in several of the same books offered. It's a complex signature that it would have to deviate every time per tipped in page. Maybe "car pen"? Then it is not clear to me how many copies are signed.

I admit that I know little about this matter, but it is a gray area.

As for the autopen: Apparently it's kept a secret so you'll never know... :

Sincerely Yours, This Machine Does Not Exist -The first rule of autopen is “don't talk about autopen.”

Ah clear, learned something again! I looked up autopen, didn't know it was a relatively old invention.. A humorous "rule of autopen.."
Thanks again
