As a collector of EC comics and Will Eisner and Warren, I regularly visit LD for info/additions and bargains. For some time now there has been a seller who fills in extremely high prices with the catalog value.
Ex: Ec edition Weird Fantasy # 13
Mint condition
€  2,500.00
Near mint condition
€  1,750.00
Good condition
€  1,000.00
Fair condition
€  500.00
I regularly consult The Overstreet Guide and come to the conclusion that this is not correct at all.
As an administrator, can I adjust these prices or should I leave them as is. You get a very high value of your collection in this way, while that is not the case from a very sober point of view.
Or is there something else behind this price increase.

If you're sure it's not right, just change it pinekop

Could it be that this user accidentally put the comma wrong? It might also be a good idea to contact him. Especially if he's still adding prizes.

I see on the internet that sales of $1000 are no exception

Anyone can make a price suggestion, with the right argumentation. also for comics. As Morits also writes, high prices are certainly no exception for comics.

Ben  a bit familiar with the prices in the comic world but this was a bit too much of a good thing!

When I search for this #13 I do come across high asking prices in not the best condition:

So at first glance the list prices seem close to this #13 not so strange pinekop
Presumably Near Mint and Mint condition will yield even more than our catalog values if copies were found in those conditions (which is probably extremely rare with these 70 year old comics).

Isn't it true that LastDodo automatically extrapolates those prices? So if someone types 1000 euros for 'good condition' (which doesn't seem strange, based on what I read above), that the other values are automatically filled in? That seems to me to be the most logical explanation for this phenomenon.

Indeed, the prices for (near) new condition are many times higher than good condition, Americans have a different valuation than here in the Netherlands...

Rene it is also the source where you look that often differs : eg the one placed below (more clear and more truthful I think).

Catalogue prices for any item only make sense if they are determined by professionals without interests and that they can be adjusted at least once a year. But that is a utopia in collecting land. As a collector, if you want to keep the values of your property up to date, it is wise to orientate regularly and not to rely on a single catalog, but also not what is being asked for on the internet. And collectors with knowledge of their field, I think, know current values for themselves. If you're talking about comics, yes ttv the 1st comic catalogs it was:  bought this and that at a fair for only 60% or so of the catalog value, where as a collector you quickly found out that those low purchase prices were the market value. So it's nice to have a catalog with pictures and information, but for me it's just a little bit of value.

No prices are automatically extrapolated.
We do use (manually by administrators) for Strips a rough ratio between the different conditions. For recent issues, from 1970 and younger, use 100 - 75 - 50 -25 for Mint - Near Mint - Good condition - Fair condition.
For older antiquarian publications, the proportions for Mint and Near Mint can rise sharply. This is because old comic books are very rarely found in this condition.

Leike-w , That could be good. I am not aware of these expenses. I quickly came across high prices when googling, for comics in mediocre condition.

Indeed, the prices for (near) new condition are many times higher than good condition, Americans have a different valuation than here in the Netherlands...

Probably also because the average comic, due to the thin paper, etc., is even more vulnerable than the average European comic album, so that (near) mint condition is relatively even less common Morits
