Looking back at 2020, we as beer label collectors had a great year.

Despite that, there is unfortunately also bad news to report.

On November 16, 2020, it was announced that our catalog manager Arco had suddenly passed away. As a manager, I could always contact him for advice or consultation from the start. Despite being very busy with his work, he always took the time to help me and to catch up. Shortly before his death, I even had him on the phone to talk about adjusting the beer type classification. How unreal it is that he is no longer here. It is a great loss for LastDodo and for all who knew him.

In our own beer label section, we actively collected again last year.

In 2018, we had an increase of 975 labels. In 2019 there were 717 and in 2020 there are so far 1015. A new record!

The first label of 2020 was entered by myself on January 1 at 12:38 pm: https: //www.lastdodo.nl/items/7872857-kerst-snol Christmas Snol from village brewery De Pimpelmeesch.

This year, many new small breweries have been added, partly in-house and partly through rental breweries.

In 2020, I paid a lot of attention to barrel-aged beers, also called “barrel aged”. This interest can also be noticed in beer enthusiast groups on the internet. Only in our beer label section is that not so clear (but that will change).

In the catalog the Blond beers, the IPAs, the Tripels, the Bock beers and the Stouts stand out the most.

For next year I hope for a subsection for the beer types so that they can be classified more accurately. For example, the Trappist and abbey beers can be further divided into blond, double, triple and the like. The same goes for the non-alcoholic beers and the session beers. In addition, it is also possible to include the Barrel Aged beers in that sub-section. We are looking at how this can be arranged with the developers of Catawiki.

Furthermore, I am Bliekie very grateful for the many hours he spent checking and adjusting all the breweries, alcohol and content notations and other things he came across. This brings some more structure and unity to the input of the data.

Thank you to all other fellow collectors who passed on their changes and comments for their input. This way we get a nice and reliable collection of beer labels.

It remains for me to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a good 2021.
