Arco was een grote fan van Martin Lodewijk en zijn creatie Agent 327.
Dit zou hij zeer zeker op prijs gesteld hebben.

Ongelooflijk, -"de Os is geveld"- Arco, wij hebben een leuke en bijzondere tijd met jou gehad. Bedankt hiervoor. Ik zie je nog rondrijden in een golfcar tijdens de stripschapbeurs in de evenementenhal Gorichem, als "festivaldirecteur", niet tegeloven, wat heb jij veel voor de stripwereld betekend. Goede reis namens Jos en alle "Eppo's" uit Eindhoven, en nogmaals bedankt voor alles en misschien wel tot ziens. Vader Cees en moeder Pia van Os, gecondoleerd, een verschrikkelijke ervaring om jullie enigst kind te moeten afgeven, sterkte met de verwerking van deze ramp. Jos Huddleston Slater en alle medewerkers van Eppo strips, Eindhoven.
Unbelievable, - "the Ox has been felled" - Arco, we had a nice and special time with you. Thank you for this. I can still see you driving around in a golf car during the comic fair in the event hall Gorichem, as "festival director", not as an oven, what have you meant a lot to the comic world. Have a good trip on behalf of Jos and all "Eppo's" from Eindhoven, and thanks again for everything and maybe see you soon. Father Cees and mother Pia van Os, my condolences, a terrible experience to have to hand over your only child, strength with the processing of this disaster. Triest. nieuws. Ik zie het nu pas.
Heb 'm slechts één keer mogen ontmoeten, in 2013 geloof ik. De afgelopen jaren had ik via de mail weleens contact met hem. Kort geleden nog een vraag gesteld. Dat zou ie nakijken. Nooit antwoord gekregen, maar het zij hem vergeven.
Z'n achtergrond kende ik eigenlijk niet. Daarom stel ik het verhaal van René zeer op prijs.
Arco was al een flink aantal jaren catalogusmanager. Hoe hield hij dat vol? Verzamelen was weliswaar zijn grote passie, maar de catalogus gaf toch ook een hoop gezeur en geklaag. En knap dat hij over zoveel verzamelgebieden toch vaak een deskundige mening kon inbrengen.
Tegelijkertijd was ik het niet altijd met hem eens. Hij kon ook besluiten nemen, die minder geslaagd waren. En af en toe was ie verschrikkelijk eigenwijs. Toch kon ik niet echt kwaad op hem worden. Daarvoor respecteerde ik hem teveel. En ik geloof dat dat respect wederzijds was.
Arco was een markante persoonlijkheid. Waarschijnlijk was er maar één zoals hij. Dat soort mensen is zeldzaam. Ik mis hem nu al.

Only got to meet him once, I believe in 2013. In recent years I had sometimes contact with him via e-mail. Recently asked a question. He would check that. Never got an answer, but forgive him.
I didn't really know his background. That's why I really appreciate René's story.
Arco had been a catalog manager for quite a few years. How did he manage that? Collecting was his great passion, but the catalog also caused a lot of nagging and complaints. And it was great that he was often able to provide an expert opinion about so many collection areas.
At the same time, I didn't always agree with him. He could also make decisions that were less successful. And sometimes he was terribly cocky. Still, I couldn't really get mad at him. I respected him too much for that. And I believe that respect was mutual.
Arco was a striking personality. There was probably only one like him. People like that are rare. I already miss him.
Ik kom niet zo vaak meer op de community site, vandaar dat ik het pas vandaag verneem. Het is schokkend nieuws! En zo jong nog.
Ik heb Arco niet persoonlijk gekend, maar daar ik regelmatig zaken wou veranderen of verbeteren aan de catalogus had ik regelmatig via mail contact met hem. Dit verliep altijd probleemloos en vrij snel.
Lastdodo verliest hierbij een steunpilaar en "ancien" van de site. Het zal moeilijk zijn om hem te vervangen. Het zal onmogelijk zijn om hem te vergeten.
Het gaat je goed Arco, waar je ook bent. Ik heb wel gebeden dat er een enorme verzameling strips zou zijn. Want je ademde strips.

I don't visit the community site that often anymore, that's why I only heard about it today. It's shocking news! And so young.
I did not know Arco personally, but as I regularly wanted to change or improve things in the catalog, I was in regular contact with him by email. This always went smoothly and quite quickly.
Lastdodo loses a mainstay and "ancien" of the site. It will be difficult to replace it. It will be impossible to forget him.
You are doing well Arco, wherever you are. I did pray that there would be a huge collection of comics. Because you breathed comics.

Dubbele knal… Wegens het overlijden van mijn broer ben ik niet veel actief, ik lees nu pas het schokkende nieuws. Dit is echt niet te geloven, zo’n mannetje vol levenslust.

Ik wed dat Arco dat allemaal zo voorzien heeft.
I bet Arco has foreseen it all.
Arco was onze collega bij LastDodo en Catawiki.
Hij was vele jaren het aanspreekpunt voor de verzamelaarscommunity en deed dat geweldig.
Naast zijn grote betekenis voor ons platform, was Arco ook lange tijd uitgever en hoofdredacteur van Stripschrift.
Vanavond loopt op Catawiki een veiling af met stukken uit zijn collectie die hij heeft nagelaten ten behoeve van Stripschrift (bied gul mee via deze link !)
Arco was ook organisator van stripbeurzen zoals De Stripdagen. En hij was tekstschrijver van boeken, liedjes en stripverhalen (zoals een Sjors en Sjimmie verhaal).
Naast zijn grote betekenis voor de stripwereld was Arco bovenal een ontzettend aardig, gedreven en betrokken mens met een ongelooflijke kennis op heel veel gebieden en een groot gevoel voor humor. Hij is slechts 59 jaar oud geworden.
We zullen hem nooit vergeten.

Arco was our colleague at LastDodo and Catawiki.
He was the point of contact for the collector community for many years and did a great job.
In addition to his great significance for our platform, Arco was also publisher and editor-in-chief of Stripschrift for a long time.
An auction ends tonight at Catawiki with pieces from his collection that he bequeathed to Stripschrift (make a generous bid via this link !)
Arco was also the organizer of comic fairs such as De Stripdagen. And he was a lyricist of books, songs and comic strips (such as a Sjors en Sjimmie story).
In addition to his great significance for the comics world, Arco was above all a very nice, driven and involved person with an incredible knowledge of many areas and a great sense of humour. He just turned 59 years old.
We will never forget him.

Die beheerdersbijeenkomsten vond ik altijd heel belangrijk. Ik heb regelmatig mijn ideeën over mede-beheerders bijgesteld nadat ik ze ontmoet had tijdens zo'n bijeenkomst.
Ja, dat waren erg leuke en nuttige bijeenkomsten!
FransSI always thought those administrator meetings were very important. I regularly revised my ideas about co-administrators after meeting them at such a meeting.

FransSAlle kavels komen na afloop op geannuleerd te staan en er komen allerlei negatieve reacties.
Dat is wel even jammer, er zal wel iets aan de hand zijn, maar het gaat niet goed.
All lots are canceled afterwards and there are all kinds of negative reactions.
That's a shame, something must be wrong but things are not going well.
En ik geloof ook niet dat (de geest van) Arco ervoor verantwoordelijk was ;-)

Blijkt dat er tijdens graafwerkzaamheden een kabel kapot getrokken is, komt nog wel eens voor, helaas.

Arco zal daar boven wel hartelijk gelachen hebben om alle commotie vermoed ik :-)

Er zal op dit moment bij Catawiki wel druk overlegd worden.
Ik krijg wel boze mails van kopers, maar goed. Het probleem ligt niet bij hun, of bij ons, of misschien zelfs niet bij Catawiki. We wachten maar even af.

There will be busy consultations at Catawiki at the moment.
I do get angry emails from buyers, but okay. The problem is not with them, or with us, or maybe not even with Catawiki. We'll just have to wait and see.

De laatste grote bult werk voorlopig hoop ik.
Na het overliojden van Arco een jaar terug ben ik bijna wekelijks in Rotterdam geweest, vaak samen met Teus en met Ton Schuringa. Nu moet het vaarwater van Stripschrift wat rustiger gaan worden (na het verzenden van de kavels...).
So we can start shipping.

After Arco passed away a year ago I went to Rotterdam almost every week, often together with Teus and Ton Schuringa. Now the waters of Stripschrift should calm down a bit (after sending the lots...).
