You must have seen them at some point. Those pieces of paper that are folded around the left side of a CD before the CD is shrink-wrapped or something. Unfolded example I'm going to move them to Other, but what's such a thing called?

No. It's not the inlay. It is an extra flubber thing ... Compare it with one of those promos that sometimes sit around a cover of a magazine ...

A in lay is in the box. This is more of a ... an ... outlay! (;-)

ok arco,

So it's an obi strip .

But you called it a Japanese insert under Specials. Of course that is not possible. After all, it is not an inlay as you yourself indicate.

A cover sheet then?

Books sometimes have an extra, smaller wrapper over the dust jacket. That's called a belly band.

Because the obi strip goes around the back of the jewel case, maybe a back wrap or back sheet is a better name?

I wonder what it will be :-)

Sorry for the "charge".

Never mind. I will correct a few things ... I wouldn't want to use the word 'wrap' for it, it has to be all around, this again in contrast to a belly band, because it does not run around. And to make matters worse, the English seem to call such an obi 'belly band' ... sob.

If you use the term Obi Strip, you can apply it to almost all information tapes. So also with books, magazines, vinyl publications.

Please note: the information wrapper with cigars simply remains a cigar band!

With (comic) books we have been using wrapper, belly band, etc. from the start, so we are not going to change that either. I think I'm going to use Obi-strip for this kind of CD stuff for now. Until someone starts adding non-Japanese. Then we'll see again. Thanks everyone.

Actually, obi-strip is double ... Obi (tape or strip) alone is sufficient. Sorry for the bullshit;)

I think it freely translated means 'Riem'

On discogs it is officially used by the music carriers as Obi-comic. Collectors prefer to see this designation when it comes to Japanese pressings.

Japan

Japanese pressings are in my opinion better in quality, sound clear and warm because the Japanese know what they want. I think this has to do with the sheet mold which is made of steel and with which the vinyl is pressed. The quality of the steel and Japanese perfectionism together are of a high quality. That makes it slightly more expensive than standard and a popular product.

Vinyl is really my thing. From ± 1980
