Ik wil pleiten om een aantal geluidsformaten samen te voegen.
Het is vaak niet te achterhalen wat voor DTS track een film heeft, en eigenlijk boeit het vaak niet.
Ik heb bijvoorbeeld een film met “DTS-HD MA 5.1”. Of “DTS ES 5.1”, die staan nu niet precies zo in de lijst. Ik kies dan maar het generieke “DTS” of “DTS ES”. Ik zou dus allereerst willen pleiten om alle DTS versies bij elkaar te scharen onder “DTS”.
Verder kwam ik zowel “Mono 1.0” als “Mono 2.0” tegen; dat wordt nu al samen onder “Mono” geschaard.
Maar vervolgens kwam ik een heel assortiment aan Stereo formaten tegen. Soms staat er alleen maar “2.0” op en heel ergens anders een ‘Dolby Digital’ logo. Als ik dat opmerk maak ik er nu “Dolby Digital stereo / Dolby Digital 2.0” van; anders wordt het “Stereo”. Wat is dan nog “Dolby Stereo” en wat is “Ultra Stereo”? Die laatste twee heb ik bij 300 DVD’s niet gezien.
Ten tweede wil ik dus pleiten deze genoemde formaten samen te voegen tot “Stereo”.
Verder kwam ik ook nog “Dolby Digital EX 5.1” tegen. Is dat dan “Dolby Digital EX” of “Dolby Digital 5.1”? Kunnen we deze ook beter niet samenvoegen tot “Dolby Digital 5.1”?
Tenslotte kwam ik ook nog “Dolby Digital EX 6.1” tegen. Ik heb maar “Dolby Digital EX” gekozen, maar dit zou een nieuwe variant “Dolby Digital 6.1” moeten worden lijkt me.
I would like to argue in favor of merging some sound formats.
It is often impossible to find out what kind of DTS track a movie has, and it often doesn't really matter.
For example, I have a movie with “DTS-HD MA 5 .1". Or “DTS ES 5 .1", they are not exactly like that in the list. I choose the generic “DTS” or “DTS ES”. So I would first of all like to argue that all DTS versions should be grouped together under "DTS".
Furthermore, I came across both “Mono 1.0” and “Mono 2.0”; these are already grouped together under “Mono”.
But then I came across a whole range of Stereo formats. Sometimes it only says "2.0" and elsewhere a "Dolby Digital" logo. When I notice that, I now make it “Dolby Digital stereo / Dolby Digital 2.0”; otherwise it becomes “Stereo”. So what is “Dolby Stereo” and what is “Ultra Stereo”? I have not seen the latter two on 300 DVD s.
So, secondly, I would argue that these formats should be merged into “Stereo”.
I also came across “Dolby Digital EX 5 .1". Is that “Dolby Digital EX” or “Dolby Digital 5.1”? Shouldn't we merge these into “Dolby Digital 5.1”?
Finally, I also came across “Dolby Digital EX 6 .1". I have only chosen “Dolby Digital EX”, but this should be a new variant “Dolby Digital 6.1” I think.
Dus:
Dolby stereo los van van de 5.1, 2.0, enz?
DTS los van 5.1, 2.0, enz?
Dat je ze dus kunt combineren. Zou er alleen geen link van de geluidsformaten maken. Eigenlijk een beetje overdreven. =)

Waarom zo drastisch inkorten?
Dan wordt het alleen maar minder gedetaileerd en mogelijk zelfs onduidelijk voor een invoerder.
Als ik een drager invoer en zie staan (op drager) DTS HD 5.1, verwacht ik niet alleen DTS te zien staan. Terwijl HD 5.1 een VEEL betere formaat en kwaliteit van geluid is.
Dus het heeft geen nut, en de links achter de geluidsformaten ook niet.

When I enter a carrier and see it says (on carrier) DTS HD 5 .1, I don't expect to see only DTS . While HD 5 .1 is a A LOT better format and sound quality.
So it's no use, and neither will the links behind the sound formats.

Dit is me om het even, ik zie zelf vaak 5.1 staan, mogen jullie “uitvechten”.

Mijn doel was inderdaad minder detail en daardoor makkelijker in het gebruik. Nu komt het wat ‘overweldigend’ over.
Persoonlijk zou ik wel willen zien of een film surround heeft, of DTS, maar precies welke DTS boeit mij niet.
Als er nou heel veel mensen zijn, zoals jij, die het belangrijk vinden om dat onderscheid wel te zien dan moet het maar zo blijven.
Mijn verwachting is dat er minder mensen dit boeiend vinden, en meer mensen het daardoor niet meer invullen.

My goal was indeed less detail and therefore easier to use. Now it comes across as somewhat "overwhelming".
Personally I would like to see if a movie has surround, or DTS , but exactly which DTS doesn't bother me.
If there are a lot of people, like you, who find it important to see that distinction, then it should stay that way.
My expectation is that fewer people will find this interesting, and more people will therefore no longer fill it in.

Er zijn in het begin al meer vragen geweest over toevoegen van geluidsformaten, dan het samenvoegen en schrappen van geluidsformaten.
Zou het eerder dan in een checkbox (aanvinkvak) los te selecteren zien.
Dus je vinkt aan: Dolby > digital > 5.1 of DTS > ES
Niet zoals nu. Misschien dat het dan duidelijk wordt.
Dus:
Geluidsoort: Dolby, DTS, PCM
Formaat: ES, 5.1, Stereo, Mono, enz
Is best een boel programmeer werk, maar maakt het makkelijker en hopelijk duidelijker.
Als het niet zo is, dan niet. Het lijkt me gewoon beter dan elk geluidsformaat los.

In the beginning there have been more questions about adding sound formats than merging and deleting sound formats.
